# freegames: the website and the game SDK

The website and the game SDK (`src/`, `scripts/`, `test/`, `index.html`, `public/`, the build files) are
free software: you can redistribute them and/or modify them under the terms of the GNU General Public
License as published by the Free Software Foundation, either version 3 of the License, or (at your
option) any later version (`public/licenses/GPL-3.0.txt`).

They are distributed in the hope that they will be useful, but WITHOUT ANY WARRANTY; without even the
implied warranty of MERCHANTABILITY or FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE. See the GNU General Public

## Additional permission under GNU GPL version 3, section 7

As an additional permission under section 7 of the GNU General Public License version 3, the copyright
holder permits you to combine the website and the game SDK (or modified versions of them) with a game port
that is licensed under the NetHack General Public License or under the GNU General Public License version 2
only (a `games/<id>/` whose `LICENSE.md` names one of these licenses, such as NetHack and Frozen Bubble), and
to convey the resulting combined work under the terms of that game port's license, provided that the source
code of the website and the game SDK it contains is made available under those terms too. This permission
covers only such combinations: on their own, and in every other combination, the website and the game SDK
remain under the GNU General Public License version 3 or later.

## Additional terms under GNU GPL version 3, section 7

For the website and the game SDK, the copyright holder adds these terms under section 7 of the GNU General
Public License version 3:

* (b) If you convey them or a modified version of them, you must keep the notice "Based on freegames.stream
  (https://freegames.stream/)" in the Appropriate Legal Notices that the work displays (on this website: the
  page "Licenses & source").
* (c) Modified versions must be marked in reasonable ways as different from the original version, and must not
  be presented as freegames.stream or as provided by its operator.
* (e) No rights are granted under trademark law to the name "freegames.stream".

These terms do not apply to a combined work conveyed under the additional permission above under the NetHack
General Public License or the GNU General Public License version 2.

## The games

Each game in `games/<id>/` is a port of a free original and carries its own license and credits in
`games/<id>/LICENSE.md`.

The game server (Java), which the website connects to, is not part of this and not distributed.
