# XPilot: license and credits

**XPilot NG 4.7.3**, from which this port is made (code, maps, textures, sounds, ship shapes), is free
software under the **GNU General Public License, version 2 or later** (GPL-2.0-or-later). This port
(the TypeScript client in `src/`, the server module in `server/.../games/xpilot/`) is under the same
license.

The textures, sounds and ship shapes in `assets/` are copied unchanged from the package's `lib/`
(`re/xpilot/fetch.sh` downloads it). The maps (`server/src/main/resources/xpilot/lib/maps`, unchanged)
name their own authors in their headers, shown when a world starts (e.g. "Tournination, made by Bert
Gijsbers, NG by Baron"). The package's `AUTHORS` (above) and `ChangeLog` are the complete list of
contributors; the "Official XPilot Contributors" are, in its own words, "too many to list here".

This browser port (the client in `src/`, the server module in `server/.../games/xpilot/`) was made for
this site in 2026 and is distributed under the same GPL-2.0-or-later.

## Favicon

The favicon of the game's page (`web/icons/xpilot.png`, 48x48, and `web/icons/xpilot-180.png`, 180x180; drawn by `web/scripts/icons.py`) is the orange "X" of XPilot's logo, cropped from `textures/logo.ppm` (GPL-2.0-or-later, above) onto a black rounded square.
